A Beautiful Metro Ride

Bangalore!!!!! Now Bengaluru :)
Is a city of opportunities, You will come across a lot of people from varied backgrounds who come to Bangalore in search of a living. According to me Bengaluru is like a softer version of Mumbai.

You have the chic & glamour for the high earning crowd & at the same time you will find that this city provides a good chance to the poor crowd as well

Okay not focusing too much on the crowd stats, let me come aim at my topic for the day.

Yes, As a person riding a bike from the age of 18 till date it was a very difficult decision to take a metro to commute to my office.
A little flash back. I always travelled to school by a cycle. The came the reality check where I had no option but to take a bus to my Junior College. So it started my journey in the Bengaluru KSRTC. From a person who had severe case of motion sickness( I still have when I take a Bus or a Car:-P) and could barely travel a km without feeling pukey I managed to travel roughly about 25 kms everyday by Bus!
The journey which began with lots of anxiety , not knowing the local language , travelling first time alone in a Bus turned to a Journey filled with lots of funny chit chats with my college friends & Voila it was no more a night mare:)

College ends.....Then the need to study & work had to shuffle multiple buses and then started the night mare again.
Late evening travel by Bus was not a pleasant ride. The constant stares from annoying men, their desperate need to atleast touch / rub a part of us made me feel disgusted and annoyed to the core. For a teenager to experience all this was way too much. As I was trying to accept my destiny and go with the flow came in a point where 2 consecutive incidents made me change my mind.
The fisrt being - A lady carrying a toddler trying to pocket money from Handbag.
The second - A well dressed middle aged lady who warmly smiled at me as soon as she stood next to me in teh bus started touching me in an inappropriate manner. Yes u read it rite! I am a ardent supporter of the LGBT community now but as a Teenager who grew up in an urban area this kind of an act from a lady was a complete shocker and I did not know how to react. I felt dirty , disgusted & was shivering to the core & had to immediately get down from the Bus hoping & praying that the Lady doesn't follow me.
I ran as fast as my legs could take me and I did not discuss this with my family. I felt  voilated & ashamed of what had happened. Then I decided to just buy a scooter at any cost to avoid all these incidents.

Got my first bike A sparkling silver Scooty named Kristal:) & I felt the most happiest owing my own bike bought with my own hard earned money.
2014 - I bought my second bike as the previous one had become old ;)
When I ride my bike i feel no one can invade my privacy & I feel happie

Metro Ride-------

A colleague of mine who had been taking the metro from quite some time & who swore by the convenience it provides kept nudging me to give it a try since My house is closer to the metro station.

Hence I took the decision to take the plunge & give it a try - All the nightmares that i faced in the past related to public transport was getting revived in my mind.

I made the courage to step in & took the First Metro ride! What a beautiful journey it turned out to be A very pleasant morning, not a crowed train & the scenic beauty of the greenery on one side & the busy traffic on the other. Above all the period of travel! what would ideally take me about 45 mins on a busy traffic day by bike was cut down a pleasant quick 12 minutes Joy ride! ~ no traffic no pollution:) Just a smooth ride.

The joy doesn't end just with the ride, The mesmerizing walk in the beautiful boulevard which follows is beautiful. Early morning the leaves on the trees filled with mist and the calm serene pathway surrounded by beautiful flowers in the creepers adds to the beauty of it. Once the boulevard ends follows a busy traffic road (although the traffic is much lesser in the early morning hours) So a total of 5 kms walk to 7 fro from office - A great work out, a traffic free commute & a good look at all the people who are busy travelling their life journey.
Observing people is another fascinating thing u can do in a metro ride although making sure that no one feels offended A quick glance shows a enthusiastic group of school kids chatting busily about sports or upcoming mid term tests, A lady busy on the phone complaining about the water problem to some one,  a couple of pretty girls (like me;-)) busy correcting their hair do or trying to fidget with their phones, A few middle aged men sitting with their packed lunch boxes & staring at the window, An Oldman with a newspaper & the funny guy beside him who is trying to peep read the newspaper. Some young men trying to play games in their phones, An intellectual looking women trying to read her book, A few tired looking ladies who look little sad and not to forget the occasional Smart & Handsome men who are dressed perfectly in  formals holding blackberry or i phones with a suave shaven face which holds a stern look and who steal glances at the pretty girls once in a while in their own classy manner:-)

To sum up it up the whole journey is somewhat fascinating to me. Adds spice to the otherwise mundane commute to office.

But this can get boring as well so I switch to my first love - Bike rides every now and then:)
I am a smart card holder of Metro now:)

Hope u guys enjoyed this article, Please write down your own interesting experiences in a metro in the  comments sections , would be happy to hear them:)
